BANGKOK, Thailand (May, 2016) — The Sukosol and the Thailand Guitar Society in association with the Conservatory of Music, Rangsit University are once again proud to present South-East Asia’s finest assembly of international guitar players, makers and enthusiasts. Now in its sixteenth year, the Asia International Guitar Festival & Competition is the only event of its kind in the region, attracting classical guitar aficionados and music lovers to participate.

This year’s agenda includes master classes, guitar exhibits, competitions and concerts by acclaimed musicians hailing from around the world. This event is sponsored by Siam Commercial Bank, Bangkok Bank, the Embassy of Israel in Thailand, Visetnut, Kohnomusic, Guitar Paradiso, Savarez Strings, Aranjuez Strings, San Miguel, Altamira Guitarras and Thainamthip.

A varied program sees four days of activities, each day culminating in a concert by one or more celebrated guitar maestros. The event will also feature a guitar competition open to all, with the winner receiving a free guitar, case, string sets, certificate and performance rights at four prestigious events.

The full list of internationally-acclaimed guests includes: Eduardo Fernández (Uruguay), Gérard Abiton (France), Tal Hurwitz (Israel), Jorgos Panetsos (Greece/Austria), Ermanno Bottiglier (Italy), Hans-Werner Huppertz (Germany), Dale Kavanagh (Canada), Thomas Kirchhoff (Germany), Chuah Yeong Chin (Malaysia), Nguyen Thanh Huy (Vietnam), Naoki Ikuta (Japan), Gino Misa (Philippines),  Masahiro Masuda (Japan), Worrrapat Yansupap (Thailand), Pongpat Pongpradit (Thailand), Apichai Chantanakajornfung (Thailand) and  Ek-karach Charoennit (Thailand).

All concerts are performed in The Sukosol’s Kamolmart room, except the concert of Eduardo Fernández which takes place in Kamolthip ballroom.

Pricing:

  • Tickets for the Eduardo Fernández concert are priced at Bht 1,000, inclusive of a coffee break.
  • Evening concert tickets are Bht 600 for adults and Bht 400 for students (with valid I.D.), inclusive of a coffee break.
  • Afternoon concert tickets cost Bht 300 for all audiences, excluding coffee break.
  • Observers of master classes and competitions pay Bht 200.
