01 July 2013
Sukosol Productions, the Thai Red Cross Society and Singha Corporation proudly present Thailand’s grande dame of jazz, Kamala Sukosol, in her annual charity concert extravaganza, this year called ‘New York, New York’. The 2013 concert series will run from August 1–3 in Kamolthip Ballroom, The Sukosol, Bangkok.
As in previous years, all proceeds from the concert series will go to the Thai Red Cross Society’s Princess Sirindhorn Chulalongkorn Craniofacial Center, to help with their invaluable work providing free operations and care to underprivileged Thai children (and their families) with facial deformities.
The concert will be jam-packed with wonderful entertainment by Kamala Sukosol, president of Sukosol Hotels, and her talented family: daughters, Marisa and Daranee; granddaughter, Natalia; and sons, Sukie and Noi (Krissada). Joining the Sukosols on stage will be a 20-member big band orchestra, regular special guests and spectacular feature artists from the Aree School of Dance Arts, with guest choreographer, Eiko Asakawa.
This year’s concert will pay homage to some of the New York’s most memorable, beloved and inspirational songs and performers, straight out of Radio City Music Hall! The concert’s unique lineup will include songs from such classic Broadway hits as Les Miserables, The Phantom of the Opera, West Side Story, Wicked and Chicago.
Highlights will include a group of Rockettes performing high-kicks to the accompany ‘New York, New York’, the ensemble getting down to Psy’s ‘Gangnam Style’, made famous when he performed it last year with Madonna at Madison Square Garden. We’ll also throw in a few other modern medleys, such as ‘Girl on Fire’ by Alicia Keys, ‘We Are Young’ by Fun and Justin Timberlake’s new chart-topper, ‘Suit & Tie’. As New York is also the fashion capital of America, we’re going to have a spectacular design fashion show by the brand Hook’s by Prapakas.
