For centuries the City of Angels has been delighting foreign guests with its warmth, exoticism and adventure. Every corner has its unique charm and our local Phaya Thai neighbourhood is no exception. We hope you will enjoy discovering our corner of amazing Bangkok with the following suggestions:
Suan Pakkard Palace
We recommend a stroll around the Cabbage Patch Palace, aka Suan Pakkard, which is conveniently located opposite the hotel. This beautiful enclave includes a garden, eight traditional Thai houses and museum, housing beautiful Ban Chiang era pottery.
Jazz enthusiasts will want to head 5 minutes up the road to the city’s oldest and most respected jazz and blues club and home to the world famous Koh Mr Saxman. A nightly roster of top local and international musicians play here.
Take a five minute walk behind the hotel to Soi Rangnam and discover Suan Santiparp, a peaceful park oasis. From 05:00 onwards scores of locals stream in to take their morning exercise: jogging, aerobics, tai chi, badminton, yoga, speed walking.
Phaya Thai Palace
Or those feeling energetic, we suggest you pop up the road to Cafe de Norasingha, on the grounds of Phaya Thai Palace (circa 1909) and once the residence of King Vajiravudh, to stretch your legs and enjoy a spot of afternoon tea in glorious Art Deco-inspired surrounds.
For a dose of local culture at its most boisterous head here in the evening when it comes alive. The streets around Victory Monument are home to myriad street-side dining spots, home-style restaurants, shopping stalls and shops and lively bars (with live music).
